The Millennium Society is the Vail Valley’s “Generation Next” — a like-minded group of 30-, 40- and 50-somethings dedicated to festive philanthropy. Over the past two years the energetic group has raised funds for the Youth Foundation, Steadman- Hawkins Research Foundation and a third discretionary charity at social events throughout the valley, including an annual fall concert at the Vilar Center in Beaver Creek. “At The Youth Foundation we consider FUN to be serious business. We know when children are having fun, they are more receptive to learning. This is why our partnership with the Millennium Society is such a good fit,” says Susie Davis, Executive Director of the Youth Foundation. The Millennium Society inspires social change while socializing! That’s fun with a purpose and a great way to engage this young generation of local philanthropists. Utilizing the strengths of individuals who represent the values of Vail’s origins as well as its future, the Millennium Society strives to promote education in health, science, charity and public service within a lively social framework. |

There is an old adage that is “takes a village to raise a child” but the question bears asking, “What does it take to make a village?” Sandra Smyser, Superintendent of the ECSD believes that it takes partnerships. Two years ago The Youth Foundation formed the Corporate Advisory Board whose members are managers and CEO’s of businesses in the Vail Valley employing the greatest number of people. Conceptually the Advisory Board was formed to build better relationships with these companies and to engage them in sharing any known concerns they have for the families and children of their employees. |
