True. Local. Radio. KZYR The Zephyr has been all about community ever since it’s inception in 1984. It’s 97.7 that Eagle County turns to in the morning to hear the latest goings on in the valley. With true local Steve Leigh at the helm, residents are tuned in and turned on from the Vail Pass to the Glenwood Canyon. From the great true local deals, to highlighting all of the great local events, the Zyphyr reaches out to the “True Local” community day in and day out.
Over the years KZYR the Zephyr has made incredible contributions to the Youth Foundation and continues to demonstrate a clear commitment to youth throughout our Valley. KZYR has supported the Youth Foundation since our inception as well, from hosting the first-ever KidBid Radio Auction, to developing True Local Kids’, a collaboration with The Youth Foundation, and The Zephyr, sponsored by Alpine Bank, that recognizes a local child once a month based on their contributions to their family, school and community.
Tony Mauro, the KZYR Station Manager, has also shared his creative expertise by helping to develop the First Tee Radio Stars, a unique on-air golf tournament where 18 different players, play 18 different golf holes around the Vail Valley to raise money in support of The First Tee of Eagle County program.
We would like to say thank you to all the staff of the KZYR the Zephyr for your willingness to step up to the plate for kids- we truly appreciate it!
Tune into KZYR, where you will learn all about the latest happenings at the Youth Foundation! If you know of someone that should be nominated for True Local Kids, please contact The Youth Foundation at 970-763-7000.
