Richard (Dick) Rothkopf joins the Board of the Youth Foundation bringing a keen understanding of the challenges faced by families struggling to make ends meet and a passion for early childhood education. Dick has had a home in Edwards for many years and is now a full time resident. He maintains a strong connection in Chicago, where he serves as the Chairman of the Ounce of Prevention Fund, a Chicago-based not-for-profit organization whose mission is to help close the achievement gap by providing America’s low-income children aged zero to five with quality care and education. Dick is the Chairman of Ludorum, PLC, an entertainment company that develops and markets wholesome children’s live action and animated properties suitable for both television and interactive formats. Ludorum’s latest show is “Chuggington,” which can be viewed in the US on the Disney Channel.
He has served on numerous other non profit boards, and has been a “serial entrepreneur” for most of his life, serving for a number of years as an officer and member of the board of a NASDAQ company. He is proud of his reputation as a mentor and motivator of young business talent.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he left the Midwest to attend Cornell University, graduating in 1967, and then MIT for finance before heading off to Europe for an eight-year stint in Italy, Germany and the UK, where he met his wife of nearly 40 years, Annie. Dick has a great love and respect for the world’s children, and has four children of his own who now live in various parts of the globe, but who often visit their parents in their Squaw Creek abode.
