Jill Alfond

Jill Alfond, also known as “Sunshine Girl”, has been actively involved in the Vail Valley community since moving here in 1992. A Michigan native, Jill has a background in broadcast journalism and public relations. During a brief absence from the Valley in the late 1990’s, Jill completed her graduate degree and attended culinary school in Boston. Upon returning to the majesty of the Rocky Mountains, Jill worked for Peeples Ink PR in Vail and helped to start the Vail-based Millennium Society with Kristen Kenney Williams. The Millennium Society is the Vail Valley’s “Generation Next” — a like-minded group of 30-, 40- and 50-somethings dedicated to festive philanthropy. Each year, the organization hosts a major, fun-filled fundraising event to benefit the Youth Foundation and the Steadman Hawkins Research Foundation.

“As the Vail Valley has become more populous and diverse and people’s lives have gotten busier both personally and professionally, finding new people to socialize with has become more difficult,” said Alfond, who also owns her own public relations firm in Vail.

“As people who live and play here, we share a responsibility to uphold the traditions that the founders of Vail so lovingly instilled in the valley,” she said. “We are the newest generation of stewards for a place we all love, and it is now up to us to contribute personally and financially to a place that has been so good to all of us.”

Jill is married to John Alfond, and together have two children, Pixie and Teddy. Jill also serves on the Board of Mountain Montessori preschool.
